Employee Spotlight: Olivia

WorkCentive || July 25, 2025

A Resilient Consultant, Creative Problem Solver, and All-Around Force

Olivia joined WorkCentive in January 2022, on the very same day as two of her current teammates, Matthew and Ibby. After five years in a previous role, she was ready for a new challenge and open to a change of pace. When she connected with our CEO, Noah for an interview, she didn’t know exactly what to expect, but the conversation sparked her curiosity. Though the role represented a big pivot, it felt like the right step. With a background in engineering and a solid foundation in project-based work and data, Olivia decided to take the leap into a more client-facing environment, and she’s glad she did.

One of Olivia’s most rewarding projects at WorkCentive involved supporting a financial services client with a highly specialized compensation model. Tasked with unraveling complex legacy logic and adapting to evolving business rules, Olivia led the charge in solving one of the project’s most intricate challenges: building logic to support a unique process allowing financial advisors to buy and sell accounts between each other. The process included multiple approval layers, negotiations, and exceptions - making it a dynamic puzzle she was eager to solve.

Nearly three years later, when WorkCentive was chosen to lead a full rebuild of the program, Olivia stepped up to lead the effort. That full-circle moment gave her the chance to apply everything she had learned since her first year at WorkCentive and deliver a solution that was both flexible and scalable. The result not only handled the most complex edge cases, it also made the program significantly easier for the client to maintain over time. It was a proud milestone that showcased Olivia’s technical depth, creative problem-solving, and steady leadership.

Outside of work, Olivia is adventurous and endlessly curious. She once spent six months living in Ireland and used it as a home base to visit 19 cities across seven countries. She’s been skiing since the age of two and snowboarding since nine, and she used to race competitively. These days, she’s working toward her black belt in karate and enjoys sailing at her family cottage in the Kawarthas. Her favorite place to unwind, the cottage is where she learned to sail on a catamaran taught by her dad. While they don’t sail professionally (and often lose), they always have a lot of fun. For her 16th birthday, she was gifted a small, decades-old sailboat that she still patches up and sails on the lake. An avid reader and dog lover, Olivia brings her curious, warm, and grounded energy into every part of her life.

Olivia brings quiet confidence, thoughtful communication, and a strong sense of integrity to everything she does. She calmly tackles ambiguity, dives into technical detail, and always asks the right questions at the right time. Whether solving complex client challenges, or pushing herself outside of work, Olivia combines technical expertise, calm under pressure, and adventurous energy in a way that truly sets her apart.
