A Lifelong Learner, Collaborative Teammate, and Global Explorer

Ibby joined WorkCentive in January 2022 and quickly became a trusted member of the team. With an engineering background, she started her career in traditional technical roles but was eager for something new. A referral introduced her to Noah, and she immediately appreciated the thoughtful interview process. While initially hesitant about joining a smaller company, Ibby soon discovered what makes WorkCentive special: flexibility, a supportive culture, and the ability to shape her own path. Here, she’s been able to grow her skills, expand into new areas, and build strong relationships across the team.

One of Ibby’s favorite projects has been her ongoing work with an airline client. She had the opportunity to travel to Calgary for discovery and was excited to return home and build out the model. Now in the testing phase, she’s been working closely with the client to identify discrepancies, dig into root causes, and resolve them so that the numbers align. Along the way, she has gained a deep understanding of how airlines operate, including the intricate partnerships between airlines and ticket sellers. The collaboration has been especially rewarding because the client has been proactive and engaged, providing real data early in the process and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable partnership.

Ibby credits one specific experience for shaping how she approaches challenges. Early “ WorkCentive journey, she encountered a model that looked very different from others she had seen before. At first, she felt stuck, but with persistence, support from Noah, and a methodical approach, she uncovered the solution by exploring how different pieces connected. That moment taught her a lesson she still carries today: even when you don’t have all the context up front, digging into the details and asking the right questions will lead you to the answers.

Her career has also been influenced by the value of continuous learning. Early on, Ibby learned how critical Excel and data analysis skills could be, which not only helped her land her role at WorkCentive but also gave her confidence in handling complex technical challenges. Over time, she’s come to see that careers are built on lifelong learning. In her words, “no one starts off knowing everything - the key is to stay curious and keep sharpening your skills every day”.

Outside of work, Ibby loves exploring the world. Japan tops her list of favorite destinations, where she and her husband experienced everything from vibrant city life to peaceful mountain towns. A highlight was staying in a private onsen and enjoying a traditional multi-course kaiseki dinner, which she describes as out of this world. Serbia also holds a special place in her heart as her husband’s family’s home country. Visiting feels instantly comforting and familiar and she's returned several times to enjoy everything from lake swims to lively weddings. She especially treasures the warmth and hospitality she's always experienced there.

Something many people don’t know about Ibby is that she was part of a dragon boat team in university. Despite being new to sports at the time and finding the training intimidating, she pushed herself through fitness and rowing tests, worked hard to improve, and eventually helped her team win their first national competition. For Ibby, it was a defining moment that reinforced the value of perseverance, teamwork, and not letting others down - lessons that continue to influence how she shows up every day.

Whether she’s diving into client challenges, collaborating with teammates, or exploring new corners of the world, Ibby embodies curiosity, resilience, and a genuine love of learning. Her adaptability and team-first mentality make her a standout contributor and a joy to work with at WorkCentive.
